About Lymphedema Center
The Lymphedema Center is a LE&RN-designated Center of Excellence dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of lymphatic disorders including lymphedema, lipedema, and related conditions.
Founded more than 30 years ago by Emily Iker, M.D., a nationally and internationally recognized physician in lymphatic medicine, the Center provides individualized, medically guided care for patients with complex swelling, pain, tissue changes, and lymphatic dysfunction.
Dr. Iker’s approach combines expert clinical evaluation with diagnostic ultrasonography to better understand each patient’s unique presentation. Treatment recommendations are then tailored to the patient’s medical needs, with the goal of improving function, reducing symptoms, supporting lymphatic health, and enhancing quality of life.

Dr. Emily Iker is the Founder and Director of the Lymphedema Center in Santa Monica, where she has dedicated more than 30 years to diagnosing, treating, and managing lymphatic disorders. Her unique combination of professional expertise and personal experience has made her a recognized leader in the field of lymphology.
During her surgical residency, Dr. Iker developed secondary lymphedema, an experience that profoundly influenced her career path and inspired her to pursue specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York Medical College. As a further study, she became board-certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine. She further advanced her expertise through specialized training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage under the instruction and mentorship of the internationally renowned lymphology pioneer, Professor Albert Leduc.
